Fathers Day 2010
I suppose I have to get back into writing again. Just returned from Ghana where it was warm, to a chilly South Africa where tonight is going to be the longest night. For someone who loves his sunshine, it is not fun to look forward to the shortest day.
But anyways, yesterday was Fathers Day and the older children were here. The little one didn’t come, some problems you know (cough-cough). I always enjoy time out with the kids. OK, they are not really kids any longer but you know what I mean.
So I Google’d “fathers day sayings” and I found the following really cute sayings and poems which I would like to share.
- “My children’s definition of Father’s Day: It’s just like Mother’s Day only you don’t spend so much.” – Unknown
- “A father is a guy who has snapshots in his wallet where his money used to be.” – Unknown
- “You know, fathers just have a way of putting everything together.” – Erika Cosby
- And my favourite, seen on boardofwisdom:
What Is A Dad?
A dad is someone who
wants to catch you before you fall
but instead picks you up,
brushes you off,
and lets you try again.
A dad is someone who
wants to keep you from making mistakes
but instead lets you find your own way,
even though his heart breaks in silence
when you get hurt.
A dad is someone who
holds you when you cry,
scolds you when you break the rules,
shines with pride when you succeed,
and has faith in you even when you fail…

Can I just say what a relief to find someone who actually knows what theyre talking about on the internet. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people need to read this and understand this side of the story. I cant believe youre not more popular because you definitely have the gift.
